Stories have been the way of moving "truth" from one generation to the next for untold millenia. Art and music may well function in the same way. We've been making a lot of art for the past 100,000 years or so, and music for at least 70,000. There is some evidence that chimpanzees in the wild have a sense of esthetics, and we've been cooking for nearly a half million years, so some questions of raw vs. cooked have probably been coming up for that long.
