Just wondering your opinion on the films made over recent years.
We Own The Night, Departed, Changling coming out soon, Just mentioning a few, not to mention LOTR and Matrix triology.
We seem to have been blessed with some outstanding films recently.

March 5th, 2010 at 6:41 amI don’t think so. Yeah, there have been great films these days, but compared to films in say the 70’s/80’s, not as good.

March 5th, 2010 at 8:28 amFunny, I was just commenting to my family the other night about the total CRAP coming out of Hollywood these days! It seems like we haven’t had a decent movie to watch since 2002. Thank goodness for Netflix!! That’s all I’ve got to say.
Have you seen Lethal Weapon 4? How about Demolition Man? Now THAT’S a movie!!!!

March 5th, 2010 at 8:52 amIt has also been a time of the worst films I have ever seen. I think you are just seeing the increase of movies being made in general. Every week there are about 4 new movies being released, opposed to the old standard of maybe 1. And remember LOTR was no doubt an amazing trilogy, but the books were written long before, and the only reason why the movies weren’t made sooner was because the technology, or special effects, weren’t available. I can make an incredibly long list of terrible movies that have come out within the last ten years, but also a substantial one of good movies too. So no, the best films ever made were probably made about 15 to 12 years ago.

March 5th, 2010 at 9:44 amNo, not really. What about the epics like Ben Hur, The Greatest Story ever Told. The classics like Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, An Affair to Remember. The Hitchcock Thrillers, Psycho, Birds, Marnie etc. etc. Can’t recall any from the latter years I would want to see more than once.
