What is soda, when asked for in american films and television programmes?

May 82010

Posted in films | 8 Comments »

In American programmes and films they often ask for a soda or diet soda. As an english man i would assume they were asking for soda water, but that is a very odd thing to want to drink without alcohol. Thankyou.

"soda" refers to any carbonated drink in america, such as coca-cola, dr. pepper, or pepsi. i suppose it is odd for us to refer to it as just "soda" instead of by name.

hope this helps

Fred Astaire + Michael Jackson – Smooth Criminal [short film] HQ

May 42010

FRED ASTAIRE in SMOOTH CRIMINAL
Starring Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse, Leslie Caron
Choreographed by Michael Kidd
‘Smooth Criminal’ by Michael Jackson
Video edited by CFJ

Here’s a high quality version of the video that I posted over a year ago. It was the first of my MJ trilogy videos, made on March 2008. It got about 450,000 views in 14 months.

I don’t know whether MJ had ever watched this, but I wished that he would see it on YouTube and just smile… which would have been definitely my biggest pleasure.

Some things I wanted to say by this video are:

1) Fred Astaire was such a great dancer and he could dance beautifully to every type of music… even to a MJ song.

2) MJ is not an originator but such a great successor who inherits various musical legacies and creates his own style.

We must always learn the history.
And now, the next generation must go on just like him.

May you dance in peace with Astaire, MJ.
I will adore you, always.

The following is the original description I wrote for the video.
————————————-

I love both Astaire and Michael Jackson. I want young people to know Astaire stuff, that is why I made this. The video features scenes from the Girl Hunt ballet in The Band Wagon (1953) starring Astaire and Cyd Charisse (those supreme legs!! The most perfect body a woman could have. So sensual, so elegant), to which MJ gave homage in his Smooth Criminal vid (also in a performance of Get Happy on the Jacksons show in the 70s as well as You Rock My World in 2001), and, as an intro, a sequence from Daddy Long Legs (1955) featuring Leslie Caron (in motion pictures, you mustn’t put a coin into a jukebox in an ordinary way!).

My initial idea was using also Yolanda And The Thief (1945) where Astaire appeared with the same costume, a white suit, hat and a blue shirt, but I eventually omitted it.

Michael Kidd worked with Janet in the Alright vid in 1990, featuring Cyd Charisse (in the red dress!), the Nicholas Brothers and Cab Calloway.

If you want to see Astaire at the top of his game, watch his ’30s and early ’40s films.

Naruto films, from which point in the episodes do they start from?

April 302010

Would like episode numbers, please.
I made the mistake of watching the Bleach films to early!

The Naruto movies have nothing to do with the plot of the anime.

How much does it cost to get photo films developed at Asda or Tesco?

April 272010

Posted in films | 1 Comment »

25exp films. I have four in total to get developed. The cheapest service (5 days or similar) not the hour serrvice.

As far as I remember I developed a coupe of films a few years ago for like 10p per exposure. Best thing is to try into some local photography shops as the final exposures at Asda or Tesco are not so good. They are quite dark and the colour tone is sometimes too high.

How can I learn about how films are made?

April 252010

Posted in films | 3 Comments »

I want to learn more about how films are made (production aspects). There are not many films filmed near where I live so I do not get many opportunities to become an extra on set (only have once). What are some good books or websites that will help me learn all the technical terms?

well if your in college save up your money and come out to los angeles and transfer to a film school, that’s what im doing except for the whole moving out her cause I live out here already lol. But you can go to beinamovie.com, they e-mail you whenever they are going to film a scene and where they are. I haven’t gone out to one because i don’t have a car or any means of transportation. If your college has a film program you should take it i mean if you are still in school. but that is pretty much i know for now but you should check on Google for like intern stuff and they can use some runners like coffee fetcher stuff, hey that’s what Steven Spielberg did when he was first starting out. Good luck!
