Here’s a high quality version of the video that I posted over a year ago. It was the first of my MJ trilogy videos, made on March 2008. It got about 450,000 views in 14 months.

I don’t know whether MJ had ever watched this, but I wished that he would see it on YouTube and just smile… which would have been definitely my biggest pleasure.

Some things I wanted to say by this video are:

1) Fred Astaire was such a great dancer and he could dance beautifully to every type of music… even to a MJ song.

2) MJ is not an originator but such a great successor who inherits various musical legacies and creates his own style.

We must always learn the history.
And now, the next generation must go on just like him.

May you dance in peace with Astaire, MJ.

The following is the original description I wrote for the video.

I love both Astaire and Michael Jackson. I want young people to know Astaire stuff, that is why I made this. The video features scenes from the Girl Hunt ballet in The Band Wagon (1953) starring Astaire and Cyd Charisse (those supreme legs!! The most perfect body a woman could have. So sensual, so elegant), to which MJ gave homage in his Smooth Criminal vid (also in a performance of Get Happy on the Jacksons show in the 70s as well as You Rock My World in 2001), and, as an intro, a sequence from Daddy Long Legs (1955) featuring Leslie Caron (in motion pictures, you mustn’t put a coin into a jukebox in an ordinary way!).

My initial idea was using also Yolanda And The Thief (1945) where Astaire appeared with the same costume, a white suit, hat and a blue shirt, but I eventually omitted it.

Michael Kidd worked with Janet in the Alright vid in 1990, featuring Cyd Charisse (in the red dress!), the Nicholas Brothers and Cab Calloway.

Oscar Winner: On June 4-6, 1942, a large Japanese force attempted to capture Midway Island in the North Pacific, but was defeated by U.S. forces with a loss ratio of 4:1 in favor of the Americans. On hand was a crew of naval photographers directed by John Ford; their documentary footage was edited together with narration by Hollywood actors. The film covers the attack on Midway, some limited aerial footage, the search for survivors, and aftermath of the battle.

Synopsis
Le film parle de l’histoire de six amis : Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris), Bobby Prinze (Jon Abrahams), Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall), Greg Phillipe (Lochlyn Munro), Ray Wilkins (Shawn Wayans) et de Buffy Gilmore (Shannon Elizabeth). Tous sont traqués par un tueur en série (celui-ci est exactement la copie conforme du tueur de Scream [version québécoise : Frissons!]) un an après qu’ils eurent percuté un homme en voiture et noyé son cadavre dans l’océan. Le film débute sur l’assassinat de Drew Decker. Cindy découvre alors que la date de la mort de Drew correspond au jour exact où ils ont tué un pêcheur en le renversant avec une voiture. Après cela, tous seront sur la liste du tueur et chacun d’entre eux sera tué dans d’atroces circonstances

Personnages

Cindy Campbell : Cindy Campbell est l’héroïne du film. Elle est la petite amie de Bobby. Cindy est une fille discrète et expansive, mais elle est très naïve. Son père, Al, est un trafiquant de cocaïne qui possède un haut réseau d’exportation de drogue en Colombie avec la famille Escobar. Elle est la seule avec Brenda à apparaître dans les Scary Movie (Film de peur) de façon récurrente.

Brenda Meeks : Brenda est la petite-amie de Ray et la grande-sœur de Shorty. On la respecte car elle est très forte, elle a beaucoup de répartie. Brenda est la meilleure amie de Cindy et comme Cindy elle apparaît dans tous les films de la série.

Bobby Prinze : Bobby est le petit ami de Cindy. Il reproche à Cindy de ne pas s’investir sexuellement dans leur couple. Il est soupçonné d’être à l’origine de tous les meurtres et d’ailleurs révèlera qu’il a tué la plupart des membres du groupe. En plus de ça, Bobby est devenu par frustration homosexuel et avouera avoir eu des relations sexuelles avec Ray (celui-ci niera être gay pour autant)

Shorty Meeks : Shorty est le petit frère de Brenda. C’est un jeune alcoolique et accroc aux joints.

Ray Wilkins : Ray est le petit ami de Brenda. Il est très B.C.B.G, limite homosexuel, car il avoue avoir un faible pour quelques garçons, mais il aime beaucoup Brenda. Il sera le complice de Bobby dans sa tentative de meurtre contre Cindy.

Buffy Gilmore : Buffy est la petite amie de Greg. Elle est connue au lycée (à lécole secondaire dans la version québécoise), car elle est riche, superficielle et à cause de ses ébats sexuels avec presque tous les garçons de lécole. Elle est très immature voire écervelée. Elle est la seule à ne pas croire au meurtrier.

Greg Phillipe : Greg est le petit copain de Buffy. Il est le stéréotype du sportif athlète de base : tout dans le physique et rien dans la tête. Greg est mauvais à l’école et semble ne pas être affecté par la situation.

‘Avatar’ is the best movie of the Year

Back in 1996, James Cameron announced that he would be creating a film called Avatar, a science-fiction epic that would feature photo-realistic, computer-generated characters.
He had a treatment for the film, which already defined many things, including the Na’vi a primitive alien race standing ten feet tall with shining blue skin, living in harmony with their jungle-covered planet Pandora.
Soon after, though, Avatar had to be shelved as the technology of the time could not satisfy the creative desires of the director.
Fast-forward to October 2009: Dan Lemmon, FX supervisor and Andy Jones, animation director at Weta Digital have about two weeks left of visual effects production for Avatar. The near-900 strong crew spanned across six locations are practically working around the clock to achieve what was deemed impossible a decade earlier.
Weta Digital, the New Zealand studio responsible for the groundbreaking visual effects in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong, is taking VFX to a new level of creative and technological excellence.
For Avatar, the studio has created over 1,800 stereoscopic, photo-realistic visual effects shots, many of them of the Na’vi as ‘hero’ characters. In addition to digital characters and environments are the machines, vehicles, equipment and everything else that help blur the line between imagination and reality.
“We’re not just talking about the environment, but the creatures, the machines and the vehicles that people use to get around. The whole world is unique and because of the way James Cameron approaches things, everything seems functional and believable. Compared to other sci-fi fantasy genre films there’s a certain level of realism just in the design that makes it very believable,” says VFX supervisor Dan Lemmon.
